    Lol at the utter outrage over an article that was posted on The Facebook from a satirical website;

    “I saved $2,500 — my parents lent me $127,500,” she says.

    Did I read this right? So pretty much telling me that her parents lend her the money and for the guarantor.

    Yes completely agree. Compromises are essential to getting into home ownership. It all comes down to priorities. As the famous quote goes

    "The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing. Create your own future.
    You have the power within so embrace it!

    If i can do it, I'm sure all of you can too. It takes a shift of mind. Focus on what you "can do", not what you can't.

    The comments on that article are hilarious. How do so many people not realise it's a joke?!?

    People can be blinded a little when they're looking to be outraged.

    "I spent most of my bat-mitzvah money on travel. I adore travelling. Dad was a bit angry when I told him I’d spent nearly all the 400k. Mum had an aneurysm and she hasn’t been the same since,”

    I have no words. . . .

    No its great PR for Bernard Salt, it's got him in the headlines, made him a topic of conversation, made a PC forum chat out of it and definitely raised his profile.

    Today one young guy was telling me he previously worked at a Max Brenner chocolate/coffee shop. They'd make chocolate milkshakes using a scoop of no brand icecream, milk etc. And sell it to people for $9.50. And people would pay that!

    He also says they don't make the waffles, they come as they are to the store and they warm them up, so they arent even freshly made. A waffle dessert is sold for $16.95 or thereabouts.

    Probably because the media has posted many real stories in a very similar fashion e.g. 'look at how this young person bought a house', whilst playing down the involvement of parents or some other factor that wouldn't be repeatable by most.

    Jess, I hadn't even tried smashed Avo on toast until I read the article and this thread. It's created a monster. Now I crave it when I see it on the menu board grabbing my morning coffee at work :eek:

    And the high unemployment and the opportunity to work a second job. I know some people refuse to work a second job but I think that's a poor attitude to have because if you really want it, you'll move mountains to make it happen, instead of doing just what everyone else is doing. I don't see Sir Richard Branson, Elon Musk, Jack Ma, Steve Jobs and etc having that mentality.
