Thebull.com.au did a recent article on 'The bursting of the Aussie housing bubble'.

The most hilarious part of their article read:

"In fact, all markets in Australia were rated as “severely unaffordable” except Wagga Wagga in NSW, Bendigo and Ballarat in Victoria, which were named “seriously unaffordable.”

I literally choked on my coffee from laughter with tears streaming. Made my day:D

What is the difference between "seriously" and "severely" unaffordable?

    Sounds the same to me.

Haha. They have probably never heard of Perth, Darwin, Hobart or Adelaide. Plenty of affordable housing for all! :)

Common...we all know Adelaide is quite unaffordable for most people. And don't get me started on Hobart, it's only a tad behind Sydney. I'm just gonna have to rent all my life and keep buying those avocados from Coles, smashing em at home. :D

That explains why I don't have those three towns in my portfolio nor on my radar.

Mmmmmmm... 9 perfect avos from the Northey St organic markets this morning for $1.66 each, that's at least 17% BMV for normal avos from Coles isn't it? Plenty of dreadlocks there but no Hipsters....

A lot of Qld is also very affordable. it's mainly the inner and mid Brisbane that's not(reason for that is mostly economic and jobs).
Not surprisingly.. it's exhibited similar market behaviour to Mel and Sydney in the last few years and will continue to do so.

on one hand I'm too tight to spend $4 to read the article online.. on the other hand it's a Monday morning I'd be quite tempted to blow $2k to fly to Bali and take selfies in a swimming pool. :p

Is it possible to copy and paste the article here?

Good value breakfasts can be $20 in Brisbane suburbs 10-12k from the CBD now :) That cost can add up.

What strikes me about Brisbane is how much more we pay for coffee than the southern capitals :)

What's this. "Good value" and $20 in the same sentence? At Coffee Club maybe. But we already know what a rip off they are. Oxymorons.

*Hi Andrew, good to see you have returned from the abyss.

I had breakfast at a cafe on the weekend (wife dragged me), and it was
    $8 for juice
$17 for a breakfast burger (egg + bacon + cheese)

Tasted ok, wasn't worth $25... but the amount of mid 20's eating there, they all must be loaded, cos I was spewing at the cost of it (and I didn't even have to pay either).

Most likely not.. they just don't have the baggage - mortgage, kids etc..
I'll bet their salaries (if they have one) will be far from loaded..
They give the impression though...can see this also at places like eagle Street (Brisbane) trendy bars on a Friday night...

I think Salt is spot on. I look around the Gold Coast and see young people driving to cafes (petrol and car), getting their smashed avo at 18-24$. Plus coffee. And acie berry smoothies at $9 each. Times that by 2 people if a couple. And that's just brunch.

I grew up with a coffee at a cafe being a weekend treat. And then when I really splurged I got a coffee and perhaps a French toast. My money went into investments. And now I am reaping the rewards. There are still some hard working supersavers and they are the bunch that will end up owning property while the rest will just complain.

$80,000 is not an entry level salary as you indicate. An entry level salary for most jobs would be significantly lower.
