I was in the gym recently taking 2 friends.

We were using a bench to do leg raises and a middleaged muscle man came up to me and said ' I need this bench pal "

I said "but we are using it ,do you mind?

He said ,ok hurry up ,3 minutes !!!

I said "I am paying good money to use this gym and this bench ,will you be giving me money back from this early use of the bench?

He then makes a rude remark to my friend "why are you dressed like the dark ages ?

    My friends are Orthodox Jews.

Im finding some people very rude in the gym, would you also ask for a refund for that day or week if this ruined your gym session?

I rang up the Manager and told him what happened and asked for a refund,he told me i could bring my friends for 7 day free pass.

Sounds like a win/win. I'd ignore the rude person, take my time on the bench and report anything like that to the management (as you've done).

I would neither ask, nor expect any sort of refund for that day or week. It is not the gym's fault and they've more than made up for something that they have little control over.

Just tell him to bugger off or similar. You'll feel good even if you don't get a refund. Remember this works best on muscle men when they can't hear you.

First, don't use a bench to do leg raises. Use the proper equipment for it.

Second. Why do you mention their religion? Its completely irrelevant to your story.

Third. How has this got anything to do with gym management? They're not your babysitters and don't have a lot of control over whether people are nice or dicks.

Lets look at it from his perspective - he is also paying money to use the facilities, you were preventing him from using it while "talking" to friends so you weren't even using it.

You think he is an a.hole because you feel like he is forcing you away from the machine which you consider "your" machine (for the moment).
You are completely oblivious to the fact that he also thinks you are an a.hole for preventing him from getting through his workout.

Both parties are butting heads because they both want something and neither is willing to find a solution that will satisfy each others needs.

Next time just offer for them to "work in" (alternate while the other rests). They usually appreciate not having to wait, it costs you nothing since you still need to rest between sets anyway (or in this case talking and not even using it). When your mouth takes a breather, you can go and do a set while he is resting. Everyone wins.

Take a mental picture of him, use it as fuel to workout harder. Make some solid muscle gains. Use your negative emotions as fuel to achieve something positive. Getting a refund for your membership will only make you the loser because you'll not be working out anymore. It will not affect anyone else's life at all.

I think this falls into the category of some form of vilification.

    I'd be ringing SBS.

Actually I was thinking religion. Now I'm thinking transgender.

Was anyone wearing a dress (where this item of apparel is not of sorts with their gender)?
