Took my wife to see Prince back in 2012. He opened with a 20 something minute long version of Purple Rain, it was awesome. RIP.

I spent many hours enjoying his music and saw him in 2003, what an incredible show. RIP Mr Purple.

Is it too early for jokes? Well, the joke predated his departure so I'll post it...

Just yesterday I was watching a you tube vid of Canadian comedian Jonny Harris. - relevant bit from around 4.00

A great loss. Didn't want to keep listening to the radio today.
Wonder just how much of the music in the world today he is responsible for. I suppose a lot of it will come to light now. Such a genius. This dove crying.

He's in a big jam session in heaven with Freddie Mercury and Elvis.

    The king, Queen and Prince.

This video shows just how good he was playing guitar, but also his amazing stage presence.

He showed utmost respect for the song. Consider who is one the stage with, and there right next to Prince is George's son, Dhani (my god he looks like him).

And to quote from a geek website I read....

He ends his Citizen Kane of guitar solos by doing the guitar equivalent of a mic drop, except instead of dropping the guitar he sort of just flips it up to air and pimp-walks off the stage like he owns the motherf****r. My guess is the guitar ascended directly into heaven, because it knew it could never top that moment.

I went to the Sydney one in 2003. Amazing performer. So much energy from a man who has been performing for so many years. A great musician and talented songwriter.
