If there is anyone here who does handy work in Brisbane and wants to quote for ripping out some carpet in a home please PM me.

    Thanks

Recently ripped out about 100sqm of carpet in one of my places. Its quite simple :)

You could probably just get someone on airtasker or one of those sorta sites to do it.

What do you intend to do with the floor after and the rubbish removal..A simple add on Gumtree would find you someone very quickly, but some of the items i have found under the carpets in old houses over the years as it is a very simple job with safety throwaway masks paper overalls, take very little time to rip it up..

    Thanks guys,

I have actually just done what you all recommended and @EN710 you're on the money, quotes are coming back between $300-500 including disposal. If I was living in Brisbane I would probably do it myself, joke is it would be cheaper for me to fly down, do it in 1 day and fly back :D... I'm just not a fan of any physical work like that tbh. Would rather be in the cinema while someone is doing it. @willair just going to clean the wooden floorboards underneath. Its only for a few months to make the place more presentable to rent. It will mid next year be demolished for development.

Materials needed: String, box cutter, bull nose pliers

    1) Cut carpet into 1m wide strips
    2) Pull up edge off grip edge with pliers
    3) Roll up and tie with string
    4) Carry outside

I see people try to drag whole rooms worth of carpet out through doorways etc, above makes it easy and manageable for even a novice.

fyi Council often won't take carpet from hard rubbish collections at the home, so it usually needs to go to the tip.

I never dispose of carpet. I always sell it in gumtree. Just set the price according to the condition of the carpet. It's either cheap or free. It's not about the money really though. I just hate waste and it's cheaper to sell than dispose of. Gumtree carpet usually goes in 24 to 48 hours if priced right.

OK negotiated with a company to rip out and get rid of it for $300 inc gst (they wanted 365). 4 big bedrooms, large lounge and medium size living room. I'll report back on the service.

I have given away worse. Mine had blood stains from where a dog gave birth to puppies on the carpet (as you do) and also an iron mark. Gotta love tenants! :)

When things are tough you'd be surprised how many bogans will mull up the carpet and smoke it.

A delicacy actually. Makes a great fungii soup with an hallucinatory effect to die for. Best consumed within 5 minutes drive of an ICU lol.
