Can't remember sizes, maybe 38 inch for the Husqvarna and the Toro was bigger. The Husqvarna was $5k and Toro was $10k.

There was a tension cable under the Husqvarna that held the mowing deck which constantly broke, there were numerous other issues all to do with the mowing deck (if that's the correct term) including the rubber belt constantly coming off.

Due to the rocks it got a bit bumpy at times but the property was quite flat and when I say rocks I'm talking about gravel up to a half golf ball size. I think most of the issues were caused by the vibration rather than rocks being flicked up.

The Husqvarna wasn't robust at all and it was almost at the point where everytime I mowed there was another repair to do. The Toro by comparison never had a single issue.

    The property was 5 acres.

I think most standard ride ons like the Husqvarna are ok for small level nicely grassed areas but they aren't good for more all terrain or stuff other than grass (weeds, lupins, paddocky stuff).
My 1m high overgrown paddock was tamed by the Toro owned by a slashing contractor. Once that was done I was able to maintain it myself

Toros are a lot more expensive but are very well regarded for their zero turn range

lol.....have you done some online reviews ?

I read gearboxes, belts coming off and no way to fix but cut off and put a new one & one said every single time it was used something went wrong and was back to dealer.....

We have one in the family, and it has been going for years, I thought it was a different brand, so maybe some models not ideal, not sure.

What one did you buy and can I ask how much ?

They may have improved the build quality, ours was purchased 11 years ago, used for about 3 years and then scrapped (there was some major repair required which was going to exceed value of mower).

If you've done 12 months without issues you'll probably be fine, ours had issues early on.

No actually, no online reviews (normally I'd get on and have a rant!). You've just jogged my memory about the gearbox, I think this was issue that caused us to scrap it.

Prior to owning one I was under the impression Husqvarna was too of the range, I'll never buy another one.

What about operation of the blades, is there any big differences or features with this that are needed or to look out for ?

You should check to see whether they offer different blades for different types of grass.

With my JDs, I have blades for cutting turf on one mower and blades for cutting bush grass on the other.

Husqvarna ride on will do an acre in around an hour comfortably
Any more and you'll need the tractor like front deck mowers - I have a New Holland which does a great job on the 5 acres I have.
I have both, I use the Husky for the fiddly corners and edges and Dutchy for the rest

That is a serious investment ?

How much would someone charge to do a few acre of paddocks ?

When I wasn't so anal about my "lawn" I used to put a sign out the front of my property - free hay, you cut it and you can have it.
Worked every time - everyone in the country needs to feed their animals
No good for you at this time but worth thinking about when it gets hotter

I think the charge wouldn't be to exorbitant, depends where you live
My neighbours were willing to lend me their mowers - friendly bunch in the country!!!

As kids with several ride on mowers to chose from, mowing the lawns/racing was fun....

    Drinking your beers:D

I use a one piece mulching blade.
Bought a 60" rear discharge deck (no stones into cars/windows)
A machine like mine or for the Toro above a contractor will charge between $90 to $130+ per hour

I think the mulching blade will be fine at mine as a non contractor (you can then drink my beers no probs ) ;)

An over run clutch will solve that problem.

is that a fuel line ? if yes, is that the carby ? (air filter would be near it, above probably) if yes, could be auto choke (if you have manual choke on dash, it is not a choke )

You should be able to find a parts diagram online pretty easy.
