Remote cosmetic renovation

Does anyone have any experience in managing/or paying someone to manage a cosmetic renovation from interstate?

I have a 1 Bedroom Apartment around 77 sqm in Dulwich Hill that is starting to look a little dated internally. I have looked at increasing desirability and hopefully rental income and potentially equity in property with a cosmetic reno. Comparable apartments that are newer (albeit smaller) have significantly higher weekly rents.

I am very busy and live interstate (can make a weekend trip at best) so it would have to be from afar and would rely on someone else's judgement. Any ideas - referrals to people who do this well etc would be greatly appreciated.
