It's a bit harder to vote 'informal' if it's an electronic document of course you can wear thongs, shorts & tee shirt whilst doing so. :p

I'd guess that probably 98% or more of us on here are not eligible to vote electronically anyway.

    Democracy sausage it is then.

I usually drop into a polling place a week or two before and vote early. No sausages but it gets it done very quickly on a day that suits you. So much easier than queuing up on polling day.

I'll be cooking the democracy sausage (and B+E rolls), but I'd still prefer to vote online. What does it mean by "I am a silent elector"? I don't want to talk to people, does that count?

    cheers,
    Inertia.

You have options - just tick the box that says you'll be out of the state on that day (gosh, my plans changed). I ticked the one that said I was more than 20km from a polling station (no idea if I am).

    They don't check.

... and just like that - over a cuppa tea, while lunch is in the microwave and I'm online reading the latest module in my TAFE course ... voted

Do have to go down and put my gamble in for the $40mil tonight tho ... did that online once, and won a bit, but it was a massive pain to get the cash into my account

Experienced realist actually. The only safe computer system is one disconnected from the internet.

A good electronic system would also produce paper ballots which are then counted to verify the electronic vote.

Registration failed for me, couldn't find me in the system. Maybe state and federal rolls are different, haven't voted in a state election for over 20 years, probably got removed.

Not sure what you mean about two devices - options were either via screen (tablet/computer/iphone) or physically call

I found registration really easy with simply having to give one Australian gov form of ID - licence, passport or medicare card
