    Hi all,

We have a townhouse and would like to change the laundry unit to something nicer and have a bench extended to cover the washing machine. We searched a lot but couldn't find anything ready to go. So, I am thinking to get someone to do it for us. Do you have any recommendation on who possibly can help?

Do I need strata approval for this change?

    Thanks

Bunnings have some displays of base units and loads of benchtops that can be cut / trimmed to size and you may match with the existing cabinet above - If Ikea then try Ikea. Bunnings can arrange installs. Replace steel tub unit for a underbench cabinet unit that also comes further forward. Cover whole width with benchtop. One issue I see that may be an issue is the bench cant be secured on the cabinet on the right as its not fixed and there is no space for a front leg support. You may need to replace that tall cabinet and take the bench wider.

Some issues to consider include tub size, depth and re-plumbing to waste. Cutouts to bench for water supply and washer power. The drain hose can be installed under bench if the right plumbing is used - Most waste drains come with a bypass eg dishwasher or washing machine connection. New tile / splashback.

Don't forget that if you want a bench, you'll need to move the GPO (powerpoint) and tap stops lower to under the bench, or just drill a few large holes in the bench top so you can connect the power and water to your washing machine.
