I have a large number of ebooks in different formats (pdf, epub, mobi etc) and I never get around to reading any of them on the computer or tablet because I get sidetracked.

So I think I need a dedicated ebook reader. Can anyone recommend one please?

I use the kindle paperwhite. I love it and take it everywhere I go. Battery lasts a month of solid use. I was looking at other brands too, but I thought having access to amazon's ebook store would offer a larger collection of books.

Unsure if you can put your own collection of ebooks onto it though.

Some of them have really crappy user interfaces.

Eventually I found eBoox on iOS. Have only just started using it though.

I have a Kindle Paperwhite also and though i can't comment on reading different materials I really love the ability to switch between reading a book on the kindle, my iPhone and iPad (with the current page number being synced between the devices).

I had the same problem. Now I don't have the gmail app, so I don't get email notifications, additionally, most of my app notifications are turned off, I also deleted many apps I don't need or use. Now only safari can be a distraction ;)

    Can't go past kindle Paperwhite.
You have a lot of options to convert formats to suit kindle. Calibre is the best one out there for conversion

I use Calibre to convert all mine to EPub (because I like the format and I am a stickler for having all my stuff in a single format).

I then use my android tablet and simply click the file in the file manager which imports it into Google library.

From then on, I go into Google library on any device and my entire collection is there :).

    I use Calibre + Kobo

Strongly recommend against using a phone/tablet - especially if reading at night. Bright phone/tablet screens will cause eye strain a lot faster than a good eInk such as Kobo or Kindle Paperwhite devices.

On my next long flights phone is the largest device which will be allowed on the plane.

I use an app called Twilight that removes the blue as time goes on, I usually fall asleep whilst reading (or watching something) but it's still backlit, if you have trouble with light when falling asleep a Kindle (or something similar) would be better as they are not backlit.

I've decided to get the Kobo Aura H2O because it can view more file formats, is slightly larger, has more font options and is water proof (so can read in the shower).

    Thanks for all the replies.

More to the point- it's safer if you drop it in the toilet.
