    Hi everyone,
Got a property settlement in a couple of months and a baby on the way. Exciting times.

Been a little paranoid of letting strangers into the car :D but with the circumstances, really have been contemplating Uber-ing to stock up in preparedness for the above reasons.

Did a bit of research and yes, there are a lot more uber drivers in the road now. Win for consumers but as a uber partner driver, is it worth the money.

This would be second gig maybe Friday evening, Saturday Sundays.

Could I get any feedback, lesson learned, advices from existing or ex uber drivers?

    Much appreciated.

I prefer Uber over using Taxi's. It may depend what state you are in also. I met a taxi driver in Sydney who did Uber on weekends. Impressed using Uber in Perth and Bris.

    What's the objective?

If it's for a little extra cash on an ad-hoc basis, it can be worthwhile. A lot of people do it when they're already going in a particular direction; they might as well get paid to go where they're already headed. As an hourly rate after costs, it's a horrible income, there's plenty of casual jobs out there that pay far better.

If it's to increase serviceability for your property purchase, it's not going to help. Uber is effectively self employed, you'd need to be doing it for a couple of years and declaring it on your tax return before the banks will accept it.

I work full-time in the city, but I've just started ubering as a side income to pay down my PPOR..

It's definitely worth while for a side thing on Friday and Sat nights..

But the hourly rate is horrible during weekdays when you take into consideration depreciation & fuel.. You can setup notifications on your phone to alert you when your area is surging and picking up a few 2-3x surge rates can really make it wortwhile.

Would anyone consider labour work on weekends? I've definitely thought about it so I can pay down my future PPOR and be able to fund more IPs.

For the last 1 and 1/2 yrs I thought my part time Uber income was better than to buy a house for a weekly income of $350.I was wrong
If I drive Uber for 10 years time then it's not as good as to buy a house with a capital gain in one year.
yes ubering could help you to pay off for mortgage sooner and it's easy job.

That doesnt make any sense. One is a job. The other an investment. About as stupid as I have a high paying job so I dont need to invest?
