    I think QLD government was rated most attractive employer 2016 so not a bad place to work. As for reputation, not all gov departments are equal, so I think your generalisation is a bit off. I doubt many government employees would be interested working for a small private company anyway.

    From what I gather from various business news, it seems majority of the employment in QLD comes from infrastructures, tourism and construction. There might be a small percentage for public service which might not be a bad thing if it's in health and education services.

    Agreed that not all public departments are the same.
    Of course it goes without saying that some will be very different than others. Some of my best projects were with large govt depts, as well as B dollar private where I currently am.
    Depends on what and where but those generalisations are just that but do hold good for the general prospects of employment.
