Just a bit of stats trivia for you ... we recently passed Somersoft in post count.

    Somersoft:

    PropertyChat:

Somersoft was just over 15 years old when it was archived.

PropertyChat will turn 9 years old in a couple of months.

It is kind of interesting that Somersoft still has 50% more threads than we have on PropertyChat, even though we're at close to the same number of total posts.

It's probably all of those super long threads we have that keep our post count rising quickly but the thread count less so

And the quality of thread content has improved also. One only need look at the LIC thread:D. But I think some tolerance is needed as age does some strange things to one’s mental capacity:confused:.

But gee how quick times goes by. It seems like not that long ago I was regularly posting on Somersoft:eek:.

I think it's very easy to post using phone on PropertyChat, but it wasn't so much of a done thing in most of the Somersoft days, so you had to be on a PC/Laptop, so naturually, posting was much more limited. Eg. Now I can pick up the phone, read anything, post whenever. On the sofa, while being on a train.... anywhere.

Also, while you could send kudos (basically the old equivalent of today's "like") on posts, nobody except the recipient and sender would know about the kudos. Now it's very transparent.

    9 years have flown.

I think the proliferation of the internet has assisted PC. Somersoft had to contend with dial up internet which was a pain. Nevertheless a great effort.

By far the best place to learn on the internet, kudos to @Simon Hampel for not only running it but keeping it afloat for so long...

Thank you Simon for doing a transformation from the OLD Somersoft Bulletin Board to Somersoft.

Nah, after close to 25 years, I'm still sceptical about this property stuff being a bit speculative and flash in the pan.

Young man, if you are getting a flash in the pan you are installing toilets the wrong way. Explosives and S-bends do not mix very well.

The quality of advice on this forum is very high. A number of people here have formal qualifications, many properties, a lot of experience or a combination. Extreme views are absent, and views are balanced. New starters are made welcome. Crook posts and people are jumped on quickly, and if they persist are consigned to a concrete pour under the metal.

It's nice to pass on wisdom and experience, sometimes gently corrected, and to learn from those with more knowledge.

I congratulate you on your experience. Was that a positive or negative meniscus? I can recall a bulletin board with dial-up, quite adequate before the internet became more widespread, and a lot of fun. Coding with punched cards was not fun.

I think that was a track on a Frank Zappa album.
