Speaking of equality and self importance, etc, is it possible to change the title 'premium member' to something else like 'contributing member' or 'paid-up member'? I'm actually a little uncomfortable with the label but would've been more uncomfortable to not give a token of support. 'Token member'? Hope that's not too off-topic.

How about we make the basic accounts "Non Premium Members"

Site makes cash from advertising as well.

    My opinion is this:
A free member that is a actively contributing is worth more to the community here than a paid up member who does not seek to give back.

Also, this isn't George Orwell's "animal farm" - I don't think there is such a need to place even more emphasis on title..

This. The community is worth nothing without the contributing members (those actively participating in and creating discussion, not those paying a token fee for some extra features).

Which is why I don't think 'contributing member' is really the right title for premium members. Perhaps 'paid member' or 'sponsoring member'.

Yes, that's fair enough - "contribution" in content vs fees can be confusing - probably not a good choice.

    Happy to consider other options.

What about a member number, following a numerical sequence when you signed up? "membership no. 21“ "member no. 21"??
Or something like they might do for a footy membership. Your a supporter but also get a seat and some extras. I'm not too familiar with the footy arrangement.

Or have "member 15/16" for financial year and perhaps get badges for membership history? That may be too much though.

Yes, that would all require a lot of work - not something I'd have time to implement right now

Does everyone have a unique number when they sign up? Make it just "member no. X"

Everyone gets a unique member id when they register - there's no additional member number assigned when they upgrade their account.

Yes, hover your mouse over your name and it tells you. The numbers are in order of signup, I'm number 5 for example.

    My lucky bingo number! :D

Start a new tally for the membership sequence too. Add a new column in excel and there's your member number... I've been a hacker for a while now ;)

What is this excel thing you speak of, and how does one get my server to add a new column in one? :p

It's got to be automated - no way I could manage something like this manually.

I don't even want a title - not trying to convince anyone that I'm better than them.
However, be careful when making comparisons. Surely a paid-up actively contributing member is the desired outcome??

    @Simon Hampel
A server is like a waiter isn't it?just get them to tally up the Members as they join? :p

Couldn't it be automated as a member signs up and pays they get a number just like registering a pleb account?

Definitely. I think everyone is treated the same ultimately, what you post determines your value in this joint!
