That room upstairs with the corner window and that big deck with a table is really great, Tim. I would love a room like that.

Plasterers are smashing it today downstairs. Glad I outsourced the sheeting and plastering. They can do nice big sheets with the 4 of them so there is less plastering of joints etc...

The room is looking so big now with the sheets going up.

Yes they like it a lot. Thats their wrestling area. They are going to hate me when i fill it with furniture and ruin it for them.

Nothing like leaving your house empty all day in order to be able to afford it

My actual work hours arent bad. Only do 32hrs a week. But its the 4hrs of work on the house before i go to work and the 12hrs work on the house on my days off that are the killer. Once the house is finished itll be sweet. My hours of work each week will halve.

What an amazing job. You are going to have to fill that huge house up with little Tims fairly quickly or you will all rattle around. Hop to it (as soon as the first little Tim has popped out). :D:p

Love the bedroom/nursery setup, especially with those chairs which will get a LOT of seat time. In our DS' first months the bed was a luxury.

Tiptoe quietly if the door next to the cot is the only way in/out of the bedroom!

I'd push the cot up beside the bed so your wife can breastfeed in bed. Once my paediatrician suggested I put our first baby into bed with us to get some sleep, we did that and I finally got a decent night's sleep. Second and third babies spent their first two years in our bed. If you don't want a baby in your bed, then right beside is next best thing.

I didn't think about pushing the cot up to our bed. That would be a compromise for those who don't want a baby in their bed, or who worry about smothering a baby. I was always, always very aware of the baby and used a bed rail to put him in the middle or even on the outside but unable to fall out.

In the three years between our first and second, even the hospital allowed me to have them in my bed. That was a massive change. Many say don't do this, but for me it worked and I never was unaware of the baby.

Sitting up trying not to drop a baby was terrible. Lying in my own bed and feeding him meant I could snooze. Bliss.

(Sorry... don't want to turn this into a "how to feed the baby at night" thread, but nobody ever suggested this until I went to the paediatrician and he could see I was a sleep deprived wreck. It seriously changed my life. The advice seems to swing from "put them in your bed" to "don't put them in your bed".)

Yeah we initially had a cot in the next room but ended up borrowing a friend's bassinet and had it right next to the bed. Wasn't one of those cool ones where one side can be opened, but it was close enough to transfer a sleeping baby without waking it. Anything for that precious 1-2 hours of sleep...

Another tip from a friend was to feed the baby while lying down on a mattress on the floor, once they're asleep just roll them onto the mattress and try to roll away yourself

Yeah there will be lots of stuff to try out. Hopefully we find something that works for us.
