    Good work.
Are there standard sizes for these doors? We're opening up a lounge room to a sunroom (about 3m opening) but might put doors in there later if we open up the sunroom like a balcony.

I think the standard doors are like 600 or 650mm each?

Our door is just over 3000mm with frame.

Lol 2 pulleys directly above going to 2 more pulleys toward the house on an angle so it reaches a single point which goes directly down to under the decking boards where there is an electric hoist.

God thats nothing. Only 5m off the ground. All the roof work had me hanging 9.5m off the ground. Im pretty surprised that I havent had a fall yet. Ive got good balance though from a youth spent doing bmx flatland. At least those skills have been somewhat transferable.

Hi Tim, came across your posts yesterday. We are looking to reno our little post war on the Northside, and it very much looks like your project! It's a bit scary seeing the house up that high, we will have a 9m final elevation with a 3m ground floor ceiling height. Great work by the way with yours, and managing to keep going. You must be over it by now though! We have our OB certificate but finding it a bit daunting getting the project started. Any tips for us or things to avoid!

    Haha god...tips....

    Too many to list.

Just generally speaking. If you don't diy with a project like this then you are going to spend the GDP of a small country to complete the build.

Only go into it if you have the money and time required. Financial or time pressure would make a big project like this unbearable.

Ummmm Hank at Schimmels does pretty good prices for building supplies.

Make sure you get your bunnings trade discount card by showing your owner builders to them. It gets you 5% off.

It is hard and exhausting and painful work. Have fun :)

We already have a Bunnings card....haha, I know that place so well I could get a job there! Finances and time aren't a problem, we aren't in a big rush to have it completed within a certain time, but don't want to go crazy on approval extensions. The plan is to do most ourselves. We had thought about getting a builder to help with the lift/slab to basically project manage the start, but the quotes are more than we wanted to spend on the whole build! Thinking we might look for a sole trader builder, so we can pick their brain every now and then and maybe get them to help power through some things like stairs and external framing if need be .... or we could sell up and live in a tent.... its tempting :)

Out on the deck some spots will be horizontal timber slats so I dont see neighbors. All the other bits will be glass handrails.

Next job is finish up the rest of that side deck. Then do all the tie downs a and bracing. Then finish off the framing and putting in the bifolds. Then get a framing inspection hopefully before the certifiers takes their xmas break so that I can continue with the cladding.
