Just because I love a good before and after, I thought I’d post some pics of the progress on our kitchen. I was very torn doing this kitchen as I really wanted a black kitchen but our house just didn’t lend itself to it.

And if you’ve ever argued with a house you would know they’re very hard to negotiate with. :)

I also agonised about the layout and changed it up completely at the very last minute - SO glad I did as it’s perfect. There was a bit of a time limit with this project and I was worried it’d be rushed and a bit sub-par but all good.

We went with timber and white with some black accents and I’m loving it so far. And the house seems pretty happy with it too.

I’ll post more pics as the action happens - there’s about 2 weeks until it’s done.

Love the colour scheme. Very timeless..

Any plans to swap the stainless steel fridge for a white one?

How wide is the thoroughfare between the oven and the island....about 900mm?

1150mm - I like lots of space in the work zone.

Probably eventually but not at this stage - the fridge is only a few years old.

Yeah 1m would be the minimum. It looked closer in the photos.

I like the timber veneer! What kind of product is it? Like a Laminex?

Yes, it's a polytec product. I love it too - more than I thought I would! It really looks great.

We have walls now, but not a great deal has progressed since the last photo - we're waiting for the stone which is still a week away. Had a bit of a delay. So probably a couple more weeks yet before it's finished.

Thankfully, not having an oven and sink hasn't been too much of a hassle.

Look forward to seeing it finished. Do you think you'll juse the Polytec veneer in other cabinetry around the house?

Maybe - we’ll be putting in a fireplace and may use the oak for the shelving. Haven’t finalised the design yet though.

Stone goes in Saturday, then the last of the cabinetry Tuesday so not long to go! I'll put some more pics up then. :)

There’s been some progress over the weekend - stone is in!

And the tiler was here early this morning to do the splashback - another thing I agonised over! I finally found the ‘right’ tile only to discover it was completely sold out and none would be available until February, was in Bunnings looking for something else and chanced upon something very similar! Stoked! And a third the price. :D

Just ignore the hideous flooring - that's the next project....

Haha - good eyes! I got mad at him for drawing on my house :p He only gets to sit there when he's been very good, otherwise he's in the kitchen! :D
