153 cases, 8 recovered, 11 deaths according to Corona Tracker - with 80 non repatriated cases according to Foxnews and CDC. (The distinction between total cases and non repatriated cases is confusing, with some websites reporting one number and some another).

The number of new cases in China has dropped considerably.

Less airplane usage, less fuel usage, fewer contrails (or chemtrails if you're that way inclined.)

Downside? Bugger Bali, Bondi is better.

I suppose all that frugality we learned as kids will pay off once the supermarket shelves are empty and the young folks cant focus without all their processed food and takeaways.

From a cold logic point of view, significant deaths in elderly could have these advantages

    - Free up much needed hospital and medical resources

    - Reduction in pension burden on government

    - Higher supply of property possibly leading to lower purchase and rental prices

    - Deaths of top level management leads to more upwards mobility of middle management which translates to more jobs.

    - Transfer of hereditary wealth from the (often) miserly elderly to the more spendful younger generation.

Just think of it as a version of Logans Run :)

In a more ideal would this outbreak would result in more Chinese citizens feeling ashamed and then saddened as well as disgusted by their live wildlife wet markets, pressuring authorities into taking some action on them. I won't hold my breathe though.

I suppose this whole matter is a completely unexpected way to reignite the euthanasia debate?

I'm thinking this is tongue in cheek? It's not like you get a cough and decide it might be time to take that final step (especially with the reported low mortality rate and often lack of severe symptoms - except those who actually do die of it). o_O
