Police Doing Self Isolation Check ups

I just received a call from a NSW police officer who asked me where I lived. I asked why and she said they were knocking on my door and there was no answer. I asked the address and it was where I lived about 4 years ago. I asked where she got that address and she said it would have been from the immigration card I filled out on entry. I said I live in VIC and put down the correct address.

She was nice and was just doing her job so I didn't give her a hard time, but it looks like they are checking up on people who have come back from overseas.

 

Yeah, that's been all over the news since they introduced this last week.

Did you sign a some sort of statement that you were self isolating?

 

Yes, I shouldn't have though as it was voluntary.

 

Police are doing compliance checks and issuing fines for people who don't comply.

When you moved did you update your drivers license? Apart ftom that I'm not sure where they would get your address. Electoral Roll?

 

Yes, I have changed both drivers licence and electoral roll. Moved twice since then too.

 

Great to hear that they are checking - it’s been mentioned on the news but it seems to really be happening now.

 

So I guess you signed an enforceable undertaking and I guess they're enforcing compliance?

 

No definitely not. She did ask if I had ever run a business from that address so perhaps recorded in their system for something.
