    Hi

For installing new carpet into to an IP what do you advise, lighter or darker colors? Having trouble deciding as the light 'shell' colored carpet (at bottom of pic) looks so pretty compared to the others among those I have to select. I've attached the best images I could take at this moment. Thanks.

Dark carpet - hides a lot of damage a tenant a do.

I would go the darker grey color as black shows up a lot of fluff etc and only looks good after it is vacuumed.

Don't choose a light colour because it will look dirty quickly

I typically prefer your light coffee/mocha colours provided it's a Solution Dyed Nylon Carpet

Go for the sample in the middle or middle left- the mid brown or the slightly different brown. Maybe the grey but the brown is a bit warmer.

Not the darkest colour as it will show dust.

Yep it's a Solution Dyed Nylon. Is there any colour among this selection you'd prefer?

    What's your likely tenant profile?
What's the colours / brightness in your room?

Beige is always good but perhaps a shade darker like bone but dont do off white. Ivory used to be popular but soufle has taken over. Mocha is great but frappechino is the new black.

The property colour scheme witn tiles, walls and trims will determine colour. Pay a colour consultant is a further option. Many paint stores offer than for a token sum.

Dark grey. Tenant could spill red wine on it and not clean it up and you wouldn't know ;)

I'm in the ACT so tenant is likely to be a student or public servant or someone who's moved to Canberra for work.

White brick walls and white ceilings. Verticals are kind of beige / ivory and there's a big lighter brown wall that runs from the front door entrance hall to the living / dining area.

    Burgundy carpet it is then?

That's exactly the reason clubs have the carpets that they install.

Does the fact that it's a SDN make a difference in that it is suppose to be 'stain resistant'?

I think it's the nylon that makes it stain resistant.

The way it's dyed affects colour fastness and resistance to fading.

Yeah it's the Beaulieu Resistain carpet. Photos attached below probably show the colors a lot better. I much prefer the light 'shell' colour but I read about these light colors being a potential nightmare for carpets due to stains. Was going to ring the company to see what they advise but they are not open today.

I would choose the one on the far right, from these.

Yeah that's the smokey beige. The one next to that is Amazon stone which would suit the decor better, and I suppose not too light or too dark.
