Planning & Development Research

I thought I might ask if anyone has any ideas where the best place to research potential developments in any areas in cairns I have tried searching the local council for existing development approvals and found tonnes for the area I am looking but that seems to be the only way other than checking whats for sale in commercial real estate that has potential for development.

Anyone know any other was you would find out is there any specific website that specialise in this?

Are you looking for “what could I build on this block”? - I’d refer to the zoning maps and regulations.

In terms of which blocks are actually available, then follow real estate listings for a general idea, or contact a commercial sales agency to see what they might have on their books that isn’t currently actively advertised.

 

Once you know the zoning maps and the density allowances from the state and/or council then you should be able to look at all available listings and determine if they are developable or not.
Not all REA listings will include zoning or developability as that information might be wrong and REAs don't want to be held accountable for that.
If you are not familiar with how the zoning work then it might be best to consult with a town planner to learn and/or get advice on listings in the area you are targetting.
