Yep. That’s it. With that number of people I would explore the cabin option.

There are two roads up to the plateau, via Landsborough to Maleny or via Nambour to Mapleton. Montville about half way between the two. Lovely drive from Maleny to Mapleton.

So you can do a loop.

    Yes, it's lovely.

PS Hastings St is over-rated and parking anywhere in Noosa is impossible. What we have done is parked at the accommodation and walked everywhere, or arrived very early in the morning. Accommodation there is also over-rated for our tastes, yours may be different. O what the heck - Noosa is bloody amazing, just ridiculously expensive. We stay somewhere else and go there for a day trip.

Just buy your own villa there and be done with it.

If you can fit it into your schedule, spend a few days/nights on Tangalooma or Straddie. They are much nicer than Bondi and with no tourists or other nasty stuff floating in the ocean. Except for wildlife - there will be lots of sea creatures swimming around in the water right in front of you. May I suggest to hire a houseboat or cruiser for your family for three or four days.

Us local Boomers call it Sufferer's Paradise or Surfers Parasites. Stay well away. It is much nicer to visit any beaches from Burleigh south to Merimbula.

haha buy own villa... i hear prices have grown a lot over the last two years. I actually booked us all into these premium suits on the water with open access to our own little beach! Should be a blast! BBQs in the evening, Abbey running around in the sand, music playing, some serious wine consumption.....I really cant wait!

Yes parking on Hastings is crazy. Usually we managed to get a spot though, eventually. At least the National Park has its own carpark. Last time I went to Noosa Abbey was i think 9 months old only.... So it will be a whole different experience now! :)

Yes done and dusted. We're not getting a house boat but a boat to rent for 2 days and will do some nice sailing/swimming/snorkeling.

I love this thread, I should write them down systematically. That's the problem of being a local.

Do you like Jazz? We have a Jazz Club by the river! They have just renovated and we havent visited. But it's really cool and you get lots of good music and sometime they have jam sessions.

If you are into history, Helena Island is nice, go for a leisurely day.

For Mapleton-Montville, pack some picnic lunch and find a spot where you can see the mountains, fabulous!

If you have enough time, go to Bunya Mountains and book the chalets for a few nights. Very good for family and bonding.

And while you are here, why not check out the multi-billion dollar project, the Queens Wharf. It will blow you away!

Not so much into jazz but Bunya mountain looks very interesting. I'll do some research and see if I can make it part of our trip!

Yeah I'd like to check out the QW project, the scale of it is phenomenal..

Caloundra is great. All the (ocean) beaches from southern Mooloolaba to Caloundra proper and Pumicestone passage. Shelley Beach and Kings Beach has an eastern suburbs (Sydney) beach feel. Golden Beach is good for young ones as there is no surf. Quiet waters in Pumicestone Passage between the shore and the northern tip of Bribie Island. Big tide movements there.

Caloundra has nice beaches and rock pools, less touristy than Noosa. Keep in mind too places like Maleny, Montville, Mt Tamborine, O’Reillys are a bit cooler in temp also. Around Wynnum, Manly, Thorneside, Wellington Point all worth a look also.

Yes please! I love the cold. Can't stand humid or very hot weather. Hence going in April.

    I know... wishful hoping...

If Qld wasn't as warm as it usually is, I'd have moved there long ago....
