But it does resemble a mining town in many ways. Will sydney or melb do the same as perth after the peak? Unlikely. perth still resembles a mining town, a lot of mining towns around the country have other industries too.its just the boon and bust of the "mining boom" brings with it hurts more

Resemble in what way? I would argue that Perth and its sprawling suburbia much more resembles the other mainland capital cities much more than a mining town.

If Perth was a mining town it would have dropped far more than it has.

It is affected by mining, no doubt about that but there are lots of other things going on as well.

    You're both right.

It's in between suburbia and mining town.

Over supply of housing and the current fallout that's going on but it is starting to mature as a city

Is that reliable? Or did they just extend the graph during the "migration period" of the mining boom?

That thought crossed my mind so depending on the bias maybe, maybe not.

    I did a graph .

Feel free to use at seminars or dinner with the premier as required:D 20161017_141911.jpg

Graph not accurate. The drop is probably exaggerated and i accept some criticism for that but otherwise it's legit ;)

WA Health employs over 43,000 people. Then you have the private hospitals/GP's etc on top of that.Latest WA Health budget was $8.2B.

I think the biggest employer is the government with 50% of the workforce plus all the spin-offs, tenders etc.

It's quite scary that half our population in WA work for the government.

    Here's an idea.

Manufacture some value instead of just buying and hoping and praying.

No one ever went broke by taking a profit.

so gentlemen, what's the verdict? Time to go into Perth? I should visit Perth some day but the flight is prohibitive. I can't even stand 1 hour flight to Melbourne.
