Now that I've got your attention ;)

How would you update this kitchen for temporary PPOR, eventually IP purpose?

The kitchen is next to a patio/courtyard, previous owner burnt a hole on the bench next to the sink.

    Depends on the area?

If the rent in the area is $600 or less per week I would leave it as is.

See if you can patch up the hole, if not replace the bench top

I don't think that kitchen needs pimping :)

That's better than our PPOR kitchen. But, we are replicating this kitchen in our QLDer very soon. #threadsteal

Well I would just replace the benchtop - probably with some sort of composite stone (essa/corian/quantum etc) so that it's more hard wearing.

If you have kids and are replacing the benchtop then thinking about an overhang at one area so barstools can go there but I'm not sure how the rest of the room works so it might cut flow to the sliding door or next room.

Can you cut out a piece around the hole and put a drop in chopping board there ?

Paint the external brick and put a servery bench outside the kitchen window. Done!

New bench top with bar overhang(possibly darker) and new door handles. Cabinets look nice and clean!

If you wanted to spend - replace the bench top (even a timber look laminate) and I would suggest updating the handles on the doors. This doesnt have to be expensive - Bunnings or Ikea - surprising the little things that make a world of difference.

Not sure about the servery bench, you would be facing the fridge and microwave when sitting at the servery bench.
