Has anyone heard anything about Rotaru Building Consultants https://www.rotaru.com.au/? I've spoken to them before and they are able to send engineers out to do your building inspections and they also offer structural inspections too.

As I'm aware that most building inspectors aren't qualified structural engineers and just do a visual inspection and whenever they suspect that something is wrong they'd generally comment that you should get a structural engineer to do an inspection. Which makes me think that there may be some merit to having a structural engineer do an inspection in the first place?

I wouldn’t recommend either company that I used for last purchase. Builder was slow to get back to me with answers, I ended up getting one item fixed that was on the report but I think I was lucky that the company who did previous alterations were happy to fix it promptly. (Roof tie downs).

My friend swears by Best West. They were more expensive but I hear extremely thorough. My friend has heaps of issues with her brand new build and they’ve been helpful to get things rectified through original builder.

We used Pete from Next Level and we’re pretty happy with him. 40+ pages of the report, very thorough, he outlined a lot of minor defects (we had no major) which out NSW B&P wouldn’t have bothered to mention.

I worked with the man behind Rotaru a few years back. Great guy. Very intelligent and professional. I'd definitely trust and recommend him. I probably would have used him on my recent purchase but didn't realise he was operating in this space.
