I agree. I don't love it. My problem is that I have painted a lot of houses so I'm reasonably good. I really notice bad painting and most pro jobs I have seen are just not very good. I don't want to pay for a half arsed job I can do better. There are worse things.

Rendering is worse. White setting is worse. Digging retic is worse.

Ha, I should have opened up my hallway as a modern art gallery with paint splatters everywhere.

It certainly was a mess! Luckily I have a wall of windows and porcelain tiles so just let it dry and scraped it off with a razor blade which was easy enough. Then just sanded the stuff that dried on the walls while I was showing off all the paint that was all over me.

And it was more me falling on the ladder than off it... It's an A-frame ladder which I didn't clip it in properly and the A just collapsed with me on top while doing the cutting in around the cornice. Few bruises and couldn't walk properly for a few days due to tweaking out something in my foot but all good now.

Im not a big fan of demo. Just because thats when I tend to get the most injuries. Splintering wood. Nails sticking up everywhere. Spiders and snakes crawling out. Dust and dirt and asbestos.

Not my idea of fun. Give me painting any day of the week. Or putting up mouldings with the finishing nail gun. I like the nice and easy jobs that make everything look pretty.

That doesn't sound like fun. In WA our houses are mostly brick. Brick walls are fun to demo. Just make sure to get an engineer to check they aren't load bearing and then go for it. Nice de-stresser after work! :D

Oh you are all Crackers :) I should have seen that coming....

Sorry... instead of putting his foot down... hubby put his "flip flop" down.

Points for creative suggestions though :p

I have personally painted 4 houses (sweat equity) and it will never happen again, unless I run out of money to pay some one else :)

Don't mind it .. especially if it looks really bad before, the end result makes it all worthwhile. Easy way to save a few $k, while also adding many $k to the place.

It's not even too hard once you have the correct technique and tools. Sounds like some are a little soft :p

Around 10 years ago while working for Amex we did painting for the offices at Father Rileys (or similar charity) as a one day team building event. It was heaps of fun... made me feel like the good old Big W days. Doing the staircase railings (horrible green oil paint) and the ceilings was the pain points... rolling the paint on the walls was heaps of fun though, but that only takes a couple of moments.

Primer and first coat of bitkote done. I'm paying someone to knock out the two coats of paint.

What did you pick? The white, the off white, the beige, the bone or the ivory?

Sucks indeed especially the prep work! I started on my PPOR a few months back and decided it's nothing that i want to do myself so just got a painter that will be starting next week.
As for colours, i asked for white and asked him to pick whatever he likes.

Oh yes the joy in trying to decide on a shade of white out of the ten billion possibilities. That alone messes with your mind. I feel your pain.
