Painting kitchen cupboards yellow

    I have IP with current light grey kitchen cupboards

    i would like to brighten up the place a bit and paint the cupboards a canary yellow.

    what kind of paint should i buy ?

    any tips i should know?

    what about the handles ,what color should i paint them?

    Is this the property you had all the extra power points discreetly installed in the roof space?

    Depends on the material the cupboards are made. Melamine/laminate would need to be treated with penetrol or similar.


    Buy a new set of handles.

    I'll send over my MIL. She wanted to replace the laminate bench tops in her kitchen. She wouldn't allow us to replace anything else as her husband made the kitchen in 1950s and it had to stay.

    Hubby retiled the splash back, put in a new bench top. I helped him paint the doors in white gloss. He took off all the "boomerang" handles, cleaned all the old paint with his wire wheel, back to metal, and spray painted them black.

    A few years later, we visited and she had given them a freshen up, used house paint, some ratty old paintbrush, and painted the ceiling, cupboards, doors, handles... everything. Lovely streaky finish and obvious brush marks. We couldn't believe it. :(
