I find renting one whenever you want to go out is generally the more cost effective option. The one I like costs around 600k. Plus mooring costs. Depreciation is terrible. . I spend around 15k a year renting luxury boats. Tbh I'd happily buy one if I thought it give me more pleasure than renting but I know it wouldn't. Now I get most of the enjoyment without the hassle.

Thanks, very much looking forward to it! Figure you only do it once so spending extra cash (within reason) is something we were more than happy to do.

We're just getting a little $25k one for exploring the waterways around the south coast of NSW but I agree hiring them is often a better option.

Having recently lump-summed a seven figure plus amount into the market, my resolution is not to second-guess myself or fiddle (except to shift things into super where possible).

I should resolve not to check Sharesight for portfolio updates, but that would be impossible.

    :)

That would be SOME boat for 600k!
I had one custom built (7m) with a 200HP 4 stroke outboard, furuno nav gear for just on 100k.
Currently I do more kilometres at sea than on land.
With fuel costs and regular maintenance expenses they can become expensive toys.
But, it is my passion, and couldn't imagine life without my own boat. I fish nearly every day, so for me it is a small price to pay for a world of enjoyment. I am lucky that I live close to the launching facilities here at Yamba also. Water has warmed up considerably, so the Pelagic fish have turned up. Great fun!

    That's not a boat, that's a house! Haha!
I don't think I would like to see blood and guts all over that deck area.
    Leisure craft yes, fishing craft......???
You could always buy me one and I could let you know what I think!;):D

$300-350 an hour. Cheaper if you purchase blocks.

    Takes upto 10 comfortably.

Definitely not cheap to buy! I would much prefer the Peter Thornhill rent the lifestyle approach if my desire ever gets to that level!

No matter how much money we have other than our own home then rent the rest when desired. Get to have all the fun without the baggage.

Review my yearly 'Bad habits' with the 'Good habits' list and stick with at least 80% of the Good Habits list for 2020!
Increase my physical activity, improve my well being and also practice more giving!;)
Huge one is to de-clutter (house, basement, storage, office, clothes, books, garden, pots, etc...)!:D

Review these respective lists and try to increase the percentage of Bad ones.

    Some balance is necessary.
