We have an IP that has an NBN box on the outside wall of the house but there is no NTD on this inside. From what I can see on the internet when you contact an NBN provider they can install this NTD? Does the property also need a phone line? I assume there will be a cost to install this box - is this the Landlord's expense to pay? Under Vic rules - must landlords supply NBN / internet access? I am wondering if I need to organise it or the tenant does. As a Landlord I will not be signing up to any plans - the tenant with have the contract with them. We have never had this situ before. Other IPS have had nbn connected and we only knew at tenant changeover and the box was in the house.
We are renting and ours was organised by our ISP. We did ask the property manager for permission before it was installed. This is in WA.
The NTD should have been provided and installed along side the outside NBN box. Did you buy the house as is, or have it installed whilst you owned it? Maybe the previous people took it with them... Perhaps call the NBN Co and ask.
Ntd is installed by nbnco at no cost to you or tenant unless you want it in a non standard installation location
Thanks for the responses. I left an enquiry on the nbn site and they responded that the internet provider will organise the box and at the moment the NTD is free. So easy for the tenant to call up and organise. The IP was a renovator's delight purchased at land value.
I just went through this, at home and with a tenant that was asking for a tidy sum to get NBN installed, I told the PM install should be free, then found out the tenants friend was organising a lucrative connection, not in the LLs favor ! fail.....
