You just need to set region to Canada to purchase the NBA League Pass. Once bought I switched back to Australia to watch the game. I've just tested it and it works.

Even if you cannot switch regions, the code LOVELP16 would give following discount to Australian region:

NBA League pass $239.99 comes down to $84.00
NBA League pass premium $299.99 comes down to $105.00

 

On separate note, I also noted that NHL Game Center has gone down to $39.95USD for the rest of the season + playoffs.
