    Hmm last time I checked if I say football everyone in VIC thinks it's AFL and in QLD people think its NRL (not sure about NSW or other states as I haven't lived in these).

    I am an immigrant so I would refer to soccer as football same as you, but not everyone living in Australia shares your view. Hence why I called in soccer!!!
