I work for a church which means a component of my incomes comes tax free, so my after tax income looks pretty modest. This sometimes causes confusion dealing with finance and tax people who don't understand the arrangement. Can someone point me in the direction of a good mortgage broker who is very familiar with the salary arrangements of people who work in not-for-profit? I'm in Sydney. Thanks in advance

Hey CJS, we work with these kinds of arrangements a lot, it's no problem with the right lenders. :) Most brokers can work remotely so location isn't an issue.

I imagine most brokers here would be familiar with these sorts of pay arrangements.

Nearly all lenders have a "Tax Free" section for income on their calculators. You just have to find a lender with the best fit for your income.

I doubt there is a specific broker that specialises NFP workers.

Just about any broker could help you out.

I did research on this a little while ago for a minister. The complication is when some of the tax free income is paid into an expense account in the churches name or a joint account in the Church and the borrowers name.

In my example the borrower has unrestricted access to the account to pay for food, bills etc but most lenders were only comfortable with tax free income paid into the borrowers own bank account. I did find a solution in the end.

And some nurses etc work and get two exempt benefits (double dip!!) and some lenders get really confused. No two loans are alike and it helps for the broker to handle such queries and how its presented in the application as Tony Xia explained.

This was the bit I thought might be problematic. Good to know there is a solution.
