Tbh , l'm really surprised about that and sorta wonder who we're payin off for that one.
l grew up in the place but to me the traffic and freeways everywhere now have ruined it.
The other thing l don;t get , is how with some of the dearest house prices in the world, could it possibly be most livable?

they have a criteria, a score board, ie health, education, jobs, lifestyle.... The question is why is Melb hitting the sweet spot?

Melb. has highest immigration in Oz, what does that tell you?? Why are people moving to Melb????

In 2001-2007 Perth was numero uno for immigration, mining boom, Big $, that's now gone..

I have visited the top 8 cities, plus Sydney. In my opinion everyone has its own merits, such as Vienna has the best culture scene and transportation infrastructure among the top 8 + Sydney; Adelaide has the best wineries and more affordable houses among them etc, but it is Melbourne that has best in average of all aspects. I'm not from Melbourne originally but I wouldn't want to live anywhere else in the world. Well, I will move to Thailand when I retire but Melbourne is the place I want to work and raise a family in. :)

I would rank Adelaide higher than Melb now; far less crowded, nice City generally; nice bays and beaches, strong sport passion and facilities, restaurants and other attractions, and better weather.

Only drawback is the electricity cost.
