Not true. Almost everything is imported for a start. That means seafood and meats and veggies and fruits have often been frozen and/or not properly ripe.

Most Singaporeans don't strive to work in the food industry so quality is often poor and unimaginative. Foreign talent is hard to bring in. And most staff are usually "foreign workers" from poorer countries or elderly ladies that the Government wants to see employed. If you want to try impressive dining in Asia go to Tokyo or HK.

And Australia has absolutely amazing food.

And in terms of buying fresh fruit from the supermarket the quality is very low and prices are rediculois high.

You must have been years ago. A bottle of tiger beer at hawker market these days is $10. And if you go to a more upmarket place its $20 a glass or more.

Hawker food is fun as a visitor where you think you are eating "exotic Asian food". I like it from time to time but trust me when you live here there's only so often you want to eat stir fried noodles and various other fried/salty dishes.

Not correct. Food is lower quality and more expensive in Singapore if you buy from supermarket. And if dining the service and preparation is just clueless. Singaporeans simply don't have the initiative for high end dining.

If you are talking about ingredients, yes. It is usually cheaper to eat outside than to cook at home unless you are a family. Don't go to Singapore for high end dining.....
