Maps

The nsw govt site sixmap was excellent until they "upgraded" it about 24 months ago.
Many of the finer details of the underlying maps didn't make it to the new version.
It's a tragic loss that they wont recognise when bought to their attention.
I even bought specific examples to their attention - its just beyond them to deal with it and seems to be outside their way of thinking.

 

Managed to find a site that had what I was after: http://www.wilmap.com.au/download.html
If you click on a 'pad map' it takes you to an area where you can open a detailed map which you can view/zoom/download in SWF format e.g. http://www.wilmap.com.au/swf_files/adsubs1.swf

Followup for the thread - went up to Map Shop in Peel St in CBD (thanks for the recommendation guys)

Obtained 2 maps, north half and south half of metro area. They are 1:21,000 scale so all street names are labelled.

They look great. Are they laminated (I assume yes).

Would love to see a pic once you work out where to display them.

 

Yeah laminated. They threw in some micro stickers (the size of a pinhead) so that I can plot my domination on them.

They're actually kinda heavy. I'm not certain how to affix them yet
