I reckon that so many Brisbane houses are in flood zone. Al most 30-40% RE searches come with flood zone. People say the houses are close to river achieve the good price but most of them are subject to flood overlay.

A different way to think about it. For the properties that are not in a flood zone, either the owners don't want to sell them off, or if they do, it's easier to attract buyers so they sell faster?

Plenty of suburbs and houses in Brisbane not affected by floods mate. Just do your due diligence when purchasing.

One phone map app I had used to show elevations of all locations between 2 points. Needless to say, I thought it was a really useful app and easy to use. But I think the app is no longer available.

Anybody know of another app that does this?

The problem with buying in places like Seven Hills and Wavell Heights without checking the flood maps, is that in between each hill is a gully which potentially floods. Sorry Mate but there is no lazy way to do this.

I think it's all somewhat tongue in cheek.

I use Brisbane flood map/flood reports to check all the time:

Check out: Flooding in Brisbane | Brisbane City Council

I like a house close to river but it is hard to find one without flood issue.

About 70% of the Gold coast is under water if they have a 1/100 year flood.

Isn't life cruel how the great places to live are affected by flooding, stingers, humidity or no jobs

No reason not to buy in Brisbane, tons of well located properties in area's that will never flood. All the councils have great flood mapping to help when researching purchases. Google maps is another great tool for looking around the streets without leaving home...

This is the kind of blanket statement that does not help anyone on here.
