From hospitality industry to financial services. Haven't made the change yet. But I have made the decision and have gotten the roll rolling. :)

Any male who was or is in a relationship with the opposite sex will know what a genuinely huge accomplishment this is.. Lol..well done.

    Hard to pick one...

Moved countries to take up the dream job I'd trained 10 years for, and finally started getting paid accordingly.
Decided that I didn't like all my eggs in one basket, so started my own business as well, with rocketing initial success (but not without major stress, this will take a couple of years...)
New IP which became a PPOR instead and is turning out well in terms of family happiness
    New dog
New pregnancy (ok, this was easy, too easy)
Managed to turn things around on the home front - this is the winner and is my number 1 focus, whenever I have the choice.

    Things I've done badly:
Exercise - my mainstay dwindled then stopped - has changed, largely limited by an as yet undiagnosed hip injury. Weight gain.

I look forward to 2016. It should be a cracker.

I've started reading 'Leadership and Self-Deception' this morning. This area remains a challenge for me, but if I can knock it over then I'm flying.

Who's going to start the 2016 plan thread? Ill start planning. :)

    I bought 2 more ips
Paid off some debt to increase rental income
Drove from the Kimberley to Victoria :)
Completed my second masters (first one was years ago)
Resigned from my job to live off rent
Made some good contacts for casual part time roles in six months or so after a mini retirement

Ha ha, I don't think so Dave. You've not exactly let the grass grow under your feet either.

    Are you sure?

I just did an 8 day ride in Hawaii this month, I'm heading to Chile in the new year to ride in the Andes solo, and have a 2 week trip riding Auckland to Queenstown in November next year.

Perhaps we just picked better wives....

Exactly, my hubby's flying business class to Europe next year for a long holiday including skiing, then a month in NZ and just bought a new motorbike with trailer for more travel. No need to generalise...

I organize it, she finds out by reading my Facebook chat, we fight, then she gives in.

It's easier to ask for forgiveness, than it is to seek permission! ;)

This year has felt like a major 'treading water' year and I feel like I've accomplished very little.

But if I'm VERY lucky I will be able to end the year by scraping in two projects going to site:
    - Mindarie JV with @Blacky is super super close to starting construction after some engineering nightmares
    - I have a small project in my SMSF which should lodge for Building Permit on 27th Nov, takes 10 days to be approved and will be cutting it fine for slab down before Christmas shutdown but might just make it.

Personally/life wise it's been a pretty great year. Giving up being a wage slave has been great for the kids, we've done lots of travelling and I've learnt lots of new things like driving a tractor to mow our 10 acres.

So, what have you done to get the ball rolling? I've been studying for a qual in the financial services industry this year (hopefully, I'll finish my last assignment within the next fortnight), but not sure I'm game enough to try and find a job in the industry. After 20 years in the same job, I'm not sure I'm capable of going back to starting at the bottom, on junior wages.

I'd love to know what your plans are.

We did it in 16 days (over 2 islands in Sept) by car, fabulous.
Bloody humid though, how'd you go with the heat and humidity?
