When I was a trader many moons ago during get togethers it was interesting how no one ever spoke of their losing trades. Enjoy the success on this one as it’s almost guaranteed you’ll lose it on subsequent trades and more:). Overall portfolio and average long term results are all that matter.

Very true, I don’t day trade.

I’m holding everything till around bitcoin halving in 2020. Then sell all/most and semi retire at 35 :)

(that’s the plan anyway) investing in property early was the main contributor to this though..

That’s a hell of a plan. Best to have a crack at these higher risk endeavours when younger as you still have time on your side if it goes pear shaped.

For that matter I’m in no situation to criticise when I think back to what I did when younger.

Same principle as property investors at a BBQ telling their success stories.

    "I bought at around $800k" (850)
    "I sold around 1.5M" (1.350)
    "I basically doubled my money"

"How much was stamp duty?" $60k
    "Real estate agent fees" $80k
    "Conveyancing and other fees?" $25k
    "Maintenance costs? " $35k
    "..and what about CGT? " 50% X (1.350 - 850 - 60 - 80 - 25 - 35) = $150K

"So you made 18.75% over 3 years? "

    "I made more in etfs"

Speaking of such. I was just about to make a post on buying AFI which is below my buy price a few years ago. Look at any long term chart and it's quite an achievement, there are only a few rare points where I could have purchased..

Was also thinking how I could put a positive spin on it, I'm up via dividends. I have averaged down (via DRP purchases :p) etc.

Anyway not a well timed purchase, if only I understood NTA at the time. Still an accumulator's gotta accumulate.

I get your attitude @Hodor but as the Pope (or whoever) once purportedly said "Stop it or you'll go blind."

Feds hiked the rate, would we see a drop in VGS/VTS as well as VAS?

Apparently the S&P 500's last quarter was its best since 2013
