    Is the follow loan structure considered crossed?

    We have been recommended to take out two loans for the one investment property, one loan is secured by the investment and the second loan is secured by our home.

    That's a fairly common structure allowing you to borrow the full value of the investment property, but still avoid cross collateralisation. :)
