The problem with living there is that you don't get to look at it.
You might have a better view from the shack where that photo was taken.

I've got family at Casuarina, so we go there a bit.

It was very windy this weekend, so not as pleasant as normal.

It's nice. Laidback. 20+kms of bike path from Tweed to Cabarita. You can't really swim at Salt, the beach is a bit treacherous, but quiet and lovely. The walk down near Cabarita to the headland is stunning (and easy, even for small kids). you MUST have dinner at Spice Den at Casuarina. THis is one of our favourite restaurants. The food is awesome, every time we've been.

I stayed at the Hotel Britanica there .
Unfortunately, I was very, very unwell with some gastro bug (to the point of delirium) and had an in-room Doctor visit.
Within this constraint, I thought it was too boring ;)

Like Ricky Jervais tried to explain to Karl Pilkington... "better to sleep in a cave and look AT the palace" than "sleep in the palace and look at the cave".

A lot of travel! After living in Australia for this long, I can no longer tolerate the temperature in those places. Stayed in Singapore for 4 days last week and I'm starting to miss Australia badly :( it's either humid super hot or air con in shopping malls and was feeling physically uncomfortable after a while.

A beach front would be nice for me, one with enough cafe, people and greens around  something like Mona Vale or Curl Curl beach would be good enough for me

Like you, I hate hot and humid climates. Not looking forward to hot Texas summer. I equally hate the cold.

Hubby and I were chatting today about where to move when the kids are old enough for us to retire and move to wherever.

Hawii is probably the closest to what I would consider "perfect".
