Getting back to WHF (despite a sore head) I like to compare LICs using NTA because it reflects Total Return net of fees and expenses.

The following is from Bell Potter’s LIC Research on 31 March 18. Comparison is against the ASX 200 Industrials Accumulation Index. Of course there are no fees / expenses deducted from the index:

I thought I’d post this give @dunno something else to dissect:D.

I want dividends. Pure and simple. My aged brain cannot be bothered, or is unable, to go into the depths of detailed analysis of each and every LIC or the companies held by them.

Now at a stage when my situation is such it's no longer important to me as I've other activities to occupy myself. The ABS published a study on income/wealth distribution.

6523.0 - Household Income and Wealth, Australia, 2013-14

While I'm not goting to say exactly where I sit, it's bloody good not to be in 1st, 2nd or 3rd quintile. I reasoned now I've reached that position, I see no need to overly fuss too much. As long as the buggers keep throwing income my way, I'm happy.

When you think about it, putting aside having an interest in investing, armed with a simple dividend income strategy was / is there ever really any need to overly fuss too much? It’s the too much fussing that has often led me to doing stupid things.

Thornhill cops some criticism here at times but the guy possesses enormous emotional maturity in the role of investing in ones life, the importance of the dividend component of shares and life in general. Some younger folk often fail to grasp the message until they to become old. Then for many it’s too late. For those that haven’t seen it the following very comprehensive interview with Peter is a worthwhile read. By the way Peter didn’t suggest the interview title:

Peter Thornhill - interview with an investing genius

And an important reminder including for myself:
About to book our next break away in a few weeks time:cool:.

I can already hear @dunno the devil’s advocate madly typing a response:D. I mean that in a nice way.

I take back what I posted in the last entry. Took Thornhill’s advice and decided to get off the IPad to spend more quality time with my wife.

She handed me the vacuum cleaner:eek::(.

So finished vacuuming / mopping and now happily reunited with the IPad:). Another lesson learnt:cool:.

Anyone know why the Bell Potter indicative NTA weekly reports haven’t been uploaded in while to the usual place (Listed Investment Company (LIC) updates - Cuffelinks)?

Due to buy another parcel of my favourite LICs this week and this is about the only thing that I use to distinguish between them!

Don’t know what’s happened. Maybe Bell Potter want too much for their reports so Cuffelink’s have dropped them?

Just buy I reckon. In 10 or 15 years time you probably won't even remember what the NTA was.

Alternatively classify the lack as a First World Problem and move it to that thread ;)

If you’re keen enough, for the older index proxy LICs you can easily calculate the approximate NTA yourself simply by adjusting month end NTA using the percent change in XJO index.

Sounds like BS to me. I've got a $250K loan with NAB for shares fixed at 3.94% and secured against my PPOR.

We will wait with bated breath for the change in substantial holder notices and gaze in awe when @Nodrog appears.:)

Apart from that, those notices could make for some interesting reading.
