    In a very calm manner surprisingly. Coffee helps.

    Quite true. Instead you get:

    • Insurances;
    • Rates;
    • Repairs and maintenance;
    • Land Tax;
    • Crappy tenants;
    • Crappy property managers;
    • Malicious damage not covered by insurance;
    • Vacancies; and, if deciding to sell
    • Hope the sale price is good plus, waiting, waiting, waiting (Will somebody please buy.)

    Sounds very exciting. However, as I've never known what I'm missing, I don't miss it.

    Way better than shares according to some.

    You are the ORACLE!!!

    After years of standing up and supporting coal based assets - well that is why I like active management, they have the right to change their position.
    As someone said “LICs outsourcing the decision making process - no worries “ (or similar wise words)

    Note : I saw the announcement and wondered if you remembered

    I don't know what SOLs actual intention is for the New Hope holding long-term. It still holds a swag of them. Maybe something will be said at the AGM which should be held soon if history is any guide.

    I'm slightly curious which mob(s) bought the remaining 6M shares of the 50M sale. I know which mob bought 44M.

    And keep in mind if an LIC or other company institutes a buy-back, those shares are required to be cancelled and cannot be held on the company's account unlike what can occur in other jurisdictions such as the UK.

    Only thing that makes me want to buy a PPOR is the ability to build a calf court basketball ring for my son ... he is determined to make the NBA..... He shot 34 and 36 points in his finals and won the overall MVP for his league. Super proud father :)

    Put a couple of dates in your calendar for January 2021 as MIR should report within the first couple of weeks shortly followed by AFI (and DJW or AMH if somebody is interested in those.)

    Until then wonder what the distributions for STW, VAS, VGS will be. I say wonder as I have no idea about the level of distributions. Have as many guesses as you wish. It won't have the slightest impact on the actual results.

    Back to getting old varnish off a set of drawers. Heat guns are useful along with the occasional interruption for a coffee.

    I was hoping that Vanguard would have released their dividend amounts by now, as they are usually go ex-div within the first couple of days of January. Fingers crossed, we may find out this coming week (I'm hoping for a nice early Christmas present).

    If 31 December is a business day this year, you'll get a New Year's Eve present. Vanguard usually announces distributions very close to or at the end of the quarter.

    As a follow up, here is the link to historical announcements to the ASX. Enter the ASX code and the period you want to view. Goes back to 1998 although some are in text form - and a bit sketchy - rather than a PDF.

    i do hope you are correct but with a number of companies trimming or withholding divs

    i suspect any divs until at least July 2021 , will be less than jaw-dropping

    of the Vanguard products i hold VAS and VHY ( both bought in 2011 and DRPed )

    however most div. paying ETFs ( that i hold ) seem to be in the same boat

    this is where those odd beasts the LICs that average out the div. payouts stand out from the crowd ( not all LICs do this though )

    good luck and have a happy festive season

    I have the same view.

    I haven't heard of companies claiming their earnings have increased which could then flow through to increased dividends. The general view of the managers of the LICs I hold are rather somber in that regard. Two reduced dividends slightly and paid out an amount greater than earnings.

    Maybe some are traders and will generate income in that manner. However, I assume the ones I hold would also take into consideration the 10% issue regarding LIC Capital Gain Discounts.

    Hey @Redwing where did you get the 50.62 cents from? The Vanguard website and Commsec both refer to 45.18 cents?
