On the subject of DUI, it is interesting to note that AFI and ARG are listed as holdings in the DUI Portfolio.

Holdings in DUI? Perhaps you meant ARG / AFI are DUI shareholders.

Quite common. The biggies simply buying other LICs with a similar investing philosophy when at a discount. Then they sell some as the discount closes.

PIC starting to edge to 10% grossed up yield. Still holding 20% cash and under 2% overseas.

Turnover is less than $25M to qualify for 27.5% franking tax rate. It'll drop to 25% in a few years but the turnover is then $50M. I stand to be corrected on that. I'm probably wrong.

So much for hankering for a 30% franking rate.:(

I no longer hold PIC. Felt it wasn't a fit me any longer. That said, if it suits others go for it. In the scheme of things, it doesn't cost much to get hold of a few thousand of them.

In fact, for somebody starting the journey it could be quite good just to get a taste for investing and then branch out.

If MIR is subject to the 27.5% and some companies it holds are subject to 30%, where is my 2.5% extra portion?

    Thieves.

They are my rules so I can break them. Went in for some ALI (around 14% below NTA) yesterday plus a few dollars thrown at AFI (also at a discount but not by much) to round things up.

I think you’re suffering from an LIC addiction:).

My job for today is to gather enough courage for a swim later this afternoon. Outside temp is 20C and pool water temp is 25C:eek:. That’s considered freezing up here. Time for the wetsuit vest:cool:. Can’t be too careful, need to avoid hyperthermia:).

I love it how @SatayKing posts what he thinks and just gets on with it! I have the vision in my head of him having a board of favorites and a blindfold on and just spins the wheel like wheel of fortune and just goes at it! Behavioural finance eat your heart out! Love his posts!

I laughed at that @pippen. I'm not as scientific as that to use the Wheel of Fortune.

If a share holding is n4,000 then n0,000 is neater.

And a greater amount of funds went to ALI than to AFI so it's bring the Oz/Os split into a better balance for me.

Will the share market be there after 18th May? Yep. Will it be there in say 10 years time? Bloody hope so.

So why should I be frightened about placing funds via my preferred way of doing things? Simply keep on investing when I feel like doing so. Look at my asset split (cost base), look at NTA, etc, etc and do it. I don't think it's really as hard it can sometimes be made out to be. Others have a different attitude of course.

And anyway I am the only one who could go broke and if I do youse lot can fund me provided you all don't cook up schemes to avoid paying your fair share of tax. :D:p

LIC addiction Nup. Money addiction Yes.

Don't wimp out with the swimming. If you do unfortunately get hypothermia, I'm sure one of these highly qualified ladies will care for your welfare, especially if you get hyperthermia and so are really, really hot.:)

I’d share what I’m buying but I’m too bloody broke to purchase anything!

Property costs and now paying p+i is hammering the cash

Oh well, the nice dividend from VAS today cheered me up a bit :D
