Invest in property and do the management and maintenance yourself. When you have enough number, you would be able to keep yourself busy, sometimes very busy. And you don't have a boss to report to. :)

That to me is more than enough things to fit in a day (for perpetuity). A small reno alone takes me weeks to plan/organise...not including pre and post planning stress.

If you have the financial means in retirement, then the only limiting factor is your imagination!

    Get busy living!;)

Are you interested in learning new skills? Maybe enrol in a course? There are even University courses online. Harvard, Open Yale, Berkeley Unis have some great ones. Learn a language?
I listen to a couple of hours podcasts every week.
I also volunteer one day a fortnight.
Depending where you live as to things to do also.
We moved to the Gold Coast last year and there is so much to do. There are many classes, activities everyday.
My hubby says I'm never home. LOL

I really wish I could retire so I could get on with doing the things that I want to.

I work part time with people who are older or incapacitated. It's not volunteer, it is paid work, though I couldn't survive on that pay. It's minimum wage, and usually travelling to clients is in my own time using my own petrol. But it's very satisfying. Sometimes it's just social support - people who are unable to get out of home really need contact with other people. Sometimes it's domestic work - my wife never thought she'd see me doing much domestic work, let alone getting paid for it. Sometimes it's taking people shopping or on excursions. I sing for one lady with dementia - she doesn't speak at all, but she often mouths the words.

I know that I'm making some difference to some people, something I never felt working with IT or with Subway.

I had been working the other part of my time on house and landscaping, getting our house ready for sale. But now that we've exchanged, I'll have a short period of leisure before having to start packing.

I stumbled across Bob Ross on SBS some weeks ago. Wow - he makes it look so easy to create something I could be proud to paint. Will definitely be giving painting a go when the times comes to give work away.

Thanks, there's also a doco on Netflix about him.

He seemed like a genuine good guy. Can't say the same for his business partners....

You'll probably spend a whole lot more time here like me :D:D:D
In all seriousness though, you do enjoy your weekends a little more as a worker because you've earned them and I actually made more plans etc so you have something to look forward to on the weekends. I'm not complaining by any means, very happy to be bored at home instead of bored at work.
