    Quote..
Mr Turnbull also said he had the support of Mr Dutton in the wake of reports that the Home Affairs Minister was being asked to challenge for the leadership and was inclined to run, with his supporters claiming he had majority support in the Liberal party room.

One gets a bit worried when we have been taught to believe in happy endings ,and you look back on history..

Three years... Malcolm will pass the length of time Whitlam was in office in a couple of months.

I think what we're seeing is that he is still depending on the right to retain leadership - which is what made many people disillusioned with his leadership in the first place.

I'd prefer to see more of your own comments when you link an article please. In this case it wasn't clear to me what the point of your post was.

While Turnbull's leadership is being questioned by those who want to destabilise, credit is due to the Libs for as long as they have. The leadership has been more stable than that coming from either side for a number of years previously, so perhaps it's not quite the same situation as we have seen before.

@geoffw technically you are correct but you can't blame the general public for a feeling of :sigh: here we go again. We don't keep track of how many days Rudd, Gillard, Rudd, Abbott and Turnbull have been in power. I would not have a clue.

All this infighting, leadership speculation, backstabbing and "rolling" of PMs is not good for the government or the country. In the past decade both sides have been guilty of all this and more.

After he got booted as PM, Rudd needed to sit down and shut up. Abbott needs to do the same. It has been an embarrassing time in Australian politics.

I absolutely agree with the last paragraph.

    Abbott never got over it.

And while Turnbull had to accede to the right, he ended up pleasing neither faction.

Exactly, and why I posted the link regardless the date of the article is irrelevant......as I said HERE WE GO AGAIN

They may be politicians, but they are human..... how can they shut up when they feel betrayed..... comes down to personality types.....
I put Rudd in a league of his own.

Ol Bronnie? You don't reckon not being in Parliament makes her ineligible to be PM?

    "Bronwyn Bishop
Former Member of the Australian Parliament"

Hon Bronwyn Bishop MP – Parliament of Australia

    Oh dear.

Bronny wouldn't have been a good candidate anyway.

Julie Bishop may have been a better choice.

Dutton would make a terrible PM - the charisma of a wet tissue.

As said before, the public is simply totally sick of the internal backstabbing and politicking on both sides - it's like watching a bunch of pigs at the back of the pack squealing and squabbling over the trough

He is a Dill as well, as are most, I luv his English...at least Turnbull is not an embarrassment to those outside when on the world stage, and he got what he wanted from Trump.

But he would be better off now going out on a limb, doing what is natural for him, and turning his back on the internal politics which no doubt come from Abbot and co who are full of poison, be a man Malcolm, you have the money to do what you want if tossed out, in fact prob become far more elevated and out of the muck pit with even more income....

Wanting power and the stage is a sickness....it is like people who want a bunch of properties...oh, wait......

There are reports today that some of the moderate faction are switching their support from Turnbull to Dutton.

    A suicidal move IMO.

Agreed - they are obviously not listening to the people who will retaliate severely if they change leaders yet again.

A strong leader is needed by both sides - and strong leadership is NOT biting an onion, threatening to shirtfront Putin or constantly whinging about the other side.
