Instead of the cheap Bali/Thailands which arent that great now but still decent value.

Ive been doing a bit of research for my next trip and looking at something cheap but still pretty good.

Looking at the Langkawi/Penang of Maylasia but a big one i really like is the Phillipines Boracay and Palwayan(sp?) Island. Theres a wonder of the world there and plenty more just as cheap if not cheaper than those Bali/Thailand type areas.

    Also Sippidan/Kota Kinabulu - Borneo.

These will be the next 3 places i go in time.

Was a bit concerned about this, with how all over the place the weather has been down South and not being used to it. But we've actually been pretty fortunate with the weather. Pretty hot, but not unbearably sticky.

@Scott No Mates @Azazel - thanks for your interest.

OK - a bit embarrassing really.

Lots of great suggestions and a good sites that we (and others) will benefit from in the future.
So thank you everyone for your suggestions and input.

    However ......

We are driving up to Forster on Saturday (evening) to stay in a place near the beach.

A bit of a disappointment afyer all that build up .....

The boys are cricket mad and did not want to miss a match and also wanted to be back for the Sydney Sixers matches (we are social club members). So we will need to make a return trip half way through it seems.

Good news is that we will do the whole holiday for less than the airfares to Cairns.

The bad news is that they are expecting Santa to transfer the savings into a good bike for Christmas.
Which might be the subject of a new thread.

Fish co-op at Tuncurry is a great hangout for fresh prawns and oysters.

You'll have to cross the bridge for the dilectible whiting fish and chips.

Folks, I am in panic mode, I was tasked to book a holiday house for the family, friends and in-laws for XMAS long weekend (5 nights). A large house for a group of 12. I usually do my booking through stayz.com.au. But I realised today when I jumped onto the site, that most holidays houses are gone. I am looking for a place anywhere close to the water in Central Coast or North Coast of NSW. Anyone know of any other sites which advertises holiday homes in NSW? Will appreciate some help..Thanks

@SouthBoy You forgot Christmas week ????? That is going to be hard to recover from.
You might want to try the local accommodation sites of a few area - I know there was some 4 bedroom places at South West Rocks when we were looking.

South West Rocks Accommodation Holiday Rentals / Raine & Horne South West Rocks - South West Rocks Accommodation, Houses Units & Apartments

@MsAli We were specifically targetting outside the public school holiday period - so it was a bit easier. The 3rd week in January should not be too hard to find something. We don't leave until this Saturday - so no comment on the place as yet - but it looks a nice resort on the website.

    It's a nice spot there at Forster/Tuncurry.
There's plenty to do there, some good drives around, Taree and Port Macquarie not far away for a day trip.
