I am struggling to figure out what lighting to put over my kitchen island.

We bought some lights and i hung them up over the weekend.... and both me and the wife think it looks crap.

I was thinking of going some bar led light like this in walnut (which matches our timber floors - cypress pine stained in walnut colour)

LED Wooden Pendant Lamp | LED Pendant Lights | Led Pendant | Lectory

    Not sure if it work....

    Any suggestions?

I think your island a little too small to handle 3 big lights like that.

What is the dimensions of the island?

Maybe something like this Liberty 8 Light Pendant in Graphite

Nice kitchen. I definitely prefer pendants over bar light set ups, but if you did use pendants I think 2 lights would look far better than 3 . 3 is just too busy looking for anything 0ther than a very long island.

Here's what we did. Our island appears significantly larger, but the kitchens have similar colours so thought you may find these shots useful... but you can see that even with the larger island, 2 lights was plenty . I think 3 would have been excessive even for this size island.

We bought the lights here - Pendant Lighting Ceiling Lights Online from Dunlin

The island is 2.1m wide x 1m deep
    The spacing is currently
    |---O---O---O--|
Based on lamp diameter of 300mm
    |---300--- (lamp)---300---(lamp)---300---(lamp)---300---|

Hmmm our kitchens look very similar
    Handles, knobs, countertops, splashback
Even the fridge.... (though that's still in the box in the garage at the moment)

    I wonder why. hahahahahaha
(Sorry i heavily borrowed yours and @Westminster kitchen for inspiration)

The three pendants look cluttered. Two ? But maybe wrong colour / size

The alternative is a fitting fixed "this side"of the island bench directed downwards & towards the bench as the downlights between island and cabinets + spotlights will provide light on each side if anyone is eating / sitting at island. (removes all shadows)

If the area above the cabinets in the mid brown is finished paint - it clashes . White, grey in marble, colour of knobs etc and bronze pendants....Its too much.

Yea the bronze is too much.
I’ll run the other suggestions past the big boss and see what she says.

I like the lights and think they're in keeping with the kitchen - but yes - three is to many. Change it to two lights and get rid of all the dangly wiring stuff

What colour is it under the island? Hard to tell in the night photo, (day photo would be easier to colour match

I like the 2 idea for larger lights. 3 smaller ones. Or a bar light

    "The block glasshouse"
Pretty much has the same stone and kitchen style doors.
I do like the look of those round lights - i had something similar earmarked, but I've also had negative feedback on it too. So confusing.

    Dulux Vivid White.
Whole kitchen is the same colour.
Floor is cypress pine stained in walnut and coated with a satin finish.

I think the shaker door profile and marble pattern on the splashback is already a fair bit to look at, the 'vintage' style of the proposed lights with the exposed cable and chai n, plus slight gloss, just grabs too much attention.

Go 2 x larger lights or 3 x smaller lights but make them as simple as possible. Here's my design..

    No!
I went in that crappy attic to install bracing wood to hold up those lights! And I was itchy due to all that crappy fiberglass insulation batts.

I’m not going to let that effort go to waste! :p

You have to remember - there can be only one hero item in a room - and then 2-3 secondary items ... if the cabinets or benchtop stone are full on, then back off on the "wow" of the light

First one for me. Will you be painting the bronze area above the cupboards? I’d make it match the cupboards.

It’s a lot of lights for a small bench - though it looks like you’ve already had the wires pulled through the ceiling....
