First thing i thought when i heard it was that it could be a plan to fight the lockout laws. Threat to shut it down

It's an iconic strip but do they really want to sell or do they just want their night clubs open? Baird flipped in the grey hounds, are they hoping this is this next?

Is selling the entire strip and re developing likely to happen? Doesnt that have the potential to shut it down for years and be run into the ground? Surely the city of Sydney wouldn't want that to happen... but it also may as it obviously wants to get rid of the drunken slobs.
It would be years of planning and develoing in stages to re shape it all. Is it a plan for media attention and get get some investors in and slowly transform it?

    PC group funding? :D

I was walking along and around Darlinghurst last Monday (while waiting for an appointment). I like the vibes and I like the old buildings. There are already some older apartments parallel to Darlinghurst Rd (the area the owners wish to sell) if it's 20 storeys, residents will have great view to the city and surrounds. Traffic wise, it would need some really good planning. It's not family friendly at the moment I wonder what type of buyers the projects will attract.

Probably no need for Larry to make an appointment. In the daytime at least the few girls on the street up there seem pretty available - the harsh light of day does them no favours.

It's pretty sad around there now as the area changes. Lots of empty shops and others occupied by crappy convenience stores and stuff like that. All the strip clubs will be gone soon, along with the ageing streetwalkers and teenage homeless. It's a great location - very close to the city, harbour and the eastern suburbs beaches. People smarter than me bought there some years ago and would have made good money. Guys like John Ibrahim are morphing from club owners into property developers. I have looked at a few places there over the years. All were small flats needing renos. The idea of attempting a reno in an area where parking is impossible and tools left unattended for a second get nicked always turned me off. I knew a tradie once who did a bit or work around there and bought a mean dog specifically to leave on his ute to guard his tools. Somebody stole the dog.

Yes, I would like the project but not the hassles of doing a reno there - I might be getting lazy.
