I want to know if the screw will have a happy ending when you take it to the tyre place.

I keep a little 12v car inflator kit in each vehicle , and are great for topping up tyre pressures when a slow leak occurs, but only if the tyre has not suffered from heat damage , you can then drop into a tyre repair shop the next day or get home and change the tyre in a nice safe environment with a trolley jack and impact driver or wrench.
Some times it isnt possible and an immediate change is required but many flat tyres can occur from a slow leak that happened a day or two ago.
The main issue then is the heat that is generated within the tyre with low air pressure at speeds greater that 30-40 kph, the rubber literally cooks from the inside around the sidewalls with all the heat/friction generated and will render the tyre unservicable with possible catastrophic failure(blowout) .
Comparing the tyre footprint or sidewall bulge compared to the tyre on the other side is a good indicator that the tyre air pressure is dangerously low and should not be driven.

Should only be 10 mins or so if they are not busy.
That screw may only be short and not even fully penetrated.
    Therefore ineffective.

I can’t believe this - 25 posts (and counting) on what to do about a screw in a tyre. The investment world must be on holidays.

@Sackie, next time I am looking for advice on a screw, you’re my man :D.

    Great post, @marmot
    although
I cant picture @Sackie keeping a trolley jack at his $several-million Bondi apartment.
And I still want to know whether the tyre is fine or he will have to buy a new one.

That tyre only needs a plug and or inner tube at worst.
Happened to me plenty on building sites.

Well the screw incident certainly kicked off my year with a bang.

Screw is out now and in it's final resting place. A heap of metal left overs.

Took about 20 mins and charged $40. The guy was quite nice. Mentioned how he's moving up to Qld to do farming mechanics in the mines. Apparently it's big money.

    Anyway, May the screw RIP.

Back to business....why is no one back to work yeeet!! Grrrrr...
