It’s raining in Brisbane and I’m hearing rain against the windows, lightning and thunder for the first time in months. I hope it’s raining on some fires too. My brother’s property was 3km from the fires last weekend (two hours out towards Warwick).

edit: as I’m posting I nearly jumped out of bed - huge clap of thunder

Raining at my place as well.

I was planning on mowing my lawn in the morning plus spray the weeds in the garden beds. Well, that was the wife’s plan for me .

This rain might just be the excuse I need :D.

I have folks in/around Toowoomba. They had rain last night and tonight.

Let’s hope some of it fell on the firegrounds.

You must be laying in bed with your phone or tablet like me. I'm on the Gold Coast now and it's spitting down here, but no rain yet.

10.45pm Brisbane time, I just turned off the internet at home and using only my mobile network. Listening to the sweet sweet sound of the rain and wind. Rain never felt this good before! My poor old lawn and garden all be singingv and dancing tonight. Alleluia!

It is absolutely hissing down at the moment.

A couple hours of this would be great.

It's been very heavy for the past hour, and just checked the water tanks as all were empty but now are all full..
I just hope this goes over the dams in the Brisbane Valley and Gatton ...

Sounds delicious. Send some further south :D

The weather forecast this evening was that the Indian ocean dipole is deteriorating, which means the monsoon will be late but will arrive - probably early January. This means we'll hopefully see rain mid-January

    Everything crossed

14mm in the gauge this morning. Plus I watered the yard the night before.

Very happy and they are forecasting more storms tonight. It would be nice to get some of that as well but I won’t be greedy.

One can only hope and pray ...

The wet season has been very brief and light for the last several years due to the higher water temps in the Indian Ocean (dipole) - and when there is no monsoon, there is no moisture feeding down to the eastern states - ergo drought

A positive climate phenomenon means bad news for Australia's winter rainfall
